I have always been a lover of the colour red, particularly when it comes to lipstick. I'm not shy when it comes to wearing red lipstick, but in the past I have tended to shy away from wearing red clothes. I've owned a pair of red trousers for YEARS, but I can count on one hand the number of times I've worn them.
It'll come as absolutely no surprise for me to say that the colour red is having a bit of a moment right now. Everywhere I look, there seem to be beautiful red bags, coats and shoes. So after years of loving it, what better excuse to completely embrace it, and go crazy for everything red?
A couple of weeks ago, I picked up this jumper from ASOS, and I have literally worn it non-stop ever since. If you watched the vlog I uploaded on Sunday, you'll have seen that first hand. It was only £30, is super soft, has a cable knit design and the high neck I explicitly look for in every jumper I buy these days. Unfortunately it's sold out at the moment and I don't know if it will come back in stock, but ASOS currently have 194 red jumper alternatives to browse - and some of them are absolutely beautiful.
This particular jumper is a rather fetching shade of tomato, and whilst the colour is very different from the trousers, I'm pretty sure the combination works..? (Please don't correct me if I'm wrong - I rather like this little bubble!)
One of the most surprising things I've realised since I bought this jumper, is that red is actually a very versatile colour and it goes with a surprising amount of other colours. I understand that not everyone can wear red, as it's not complementary to all complexions, but for the vast majority I think it looks great. As a guide, if you can rock a red lipstick, you can almost definitely get away with wearing a red jumper.
And not just at Christmas either! I've been trialling out (and loving!) a red jumper and red lip combo over the last couple of weeks. To me that isn't festive because I generally go ALL OUT when it comes to Christmas. A metallic red lip, Christmas jumpers, Christmas pyjamas, Christmas bedding and super sparkly going out outfits are not uncommon when it comes to me and Christmas, so this to me is every day kinda wear. If you're reading this and absolutely screaming at the screen, I apologise, and unreservedly recommend picking up a red jumper for Christmas and seeing how you get on. You might well find yourself rocking the red lip with it even after the festive period has ended...
